The Ride of Your Life
By Gift Of Gab
On The Road
This one looked at me
and I looked at him
or her, I couldn't tell.
I'm a city boy and this was
a horse, dark brown with a white
triangle shaped mark on it's head.
I watched it watch me.
I wished I could ride a horse again,
bareback but without my mother
behind me and pulling me off
when we rounded a corner too fast.
My steel horse is a bicycle,
she doesn't breathe.
After I saddle up again
on the side of the road pushing
my feet into pedal cages and starting
to roll I push the volume up
for Daft Punk. I glide away
in a daydream and thinking
about Greece, Aristotelian arete,
and ethos.
