My Kingfisher!!!

My perseverance of trips to the Botanics has paid off. I can now say that I have seen a Kingfisher, both sitting, in flight and it's beautiful russet breast as well as the vibrant blues of it's wings. Whoopee!!

I also got to speak with the official bird recorder who has worked at the Botanics for 30 or so years and gleaned lots of information from him. How did that happen? Well I was so over-excited about my sighting that when I saw this fellow wandering nearby I shouted over, 'Look, there's a Kingfisher'. I guess he was being kind and humouring me when he came over to join me. This was coals to Newcastle for him as he has been following their movements for 30 years.
