Poor judgement!
I had the off today, and didn't go out for a photo until this afternoon. It was a nice day, with clouds in and out. I thought I would head north to get some cool cloud shots. On my way, the sun was breaking through , creating beautiful rays beaming down. I couldn't get to a good vantage point where I was, so I decided to keep going.
I was in North Conway and was frustrated because the sky was so amazing and I wasn't able to stop again, because I was in a commercial area. I pulled over to this view spot and took this photo. The sky kept changing, and was not as dramatic as it was a few minutes before.
As you can see in this pic, there is not snow in the foreground, but, Mt. Washington, in the background, is snow covered and there are clouds above it.
I thought I would drive by Mt. Washington, with the hopes of getting a sunset shot.
As I drove, that big cloud got closer. I approached the notch, and it was a total white out! I decided at that point to turn around, and go back where I came from.
As I was driving, I looked back in the rear view mirror, and the squall had passed. The mountains were surrounded by a pink and purple glow! But, there was not way I was going to turn around again!
This time of year, I guess I will just stay close to home.
