The image was taken on Southerndown Beach in south Wales. Out for a late afternoon walk on the beach when I noticed the stone which had been arranged to form this pattern. The tide was in and the waves were creating patterns with the light. I wanted the shape of the rocks and their dark shadows to complement the sparkle of the of the incoming wave. Without this lighting effect the rocks would have just been rocks.
