Old route

I went out today with a view to getting a damp misty blip, but before I got very far I fell for this one.
This avenue of beeches runs alongside the vehicle access towards Polesden Lacey. This is also an ancient north/south route across the North Downs. Quite a few of the trees fell in the 1987 hurricane but were soon replaced and the avenue is complete once more. I like to imagine that this was the original driveway to Polesden Lacey. Maybe King George VI and Queen Elizabeth drove up here on their way to spend their honeymoon at the house.
