I think this bug is called

Acanthosoma haemorrhoidale
Hawthorn Shieldbug

I did some gardening this morning but everything was so cold and wet I didn't do much. I did however bring in the last of the cut flowers.

It wasn't until later that this bug appeared on the window making an escape bid. It was pretty quick moving but it paused just long enough for me to get this macro photo before it flew off back into the garden.
