Raffles Day

"Probably the world's most famous hotel"....According to their Web site " an icon ...an oasis of colonial style, calm and charm" All of which are true, but I think to really experience it you would need to be resident. We just did the tourist areas that are open to the public, including of course an origional Singapore Sling ,in the Long Bar.

We also checked out the Fountain of Wealth, which was listed by the Guinness Book of Records in 1998 as the largest fountain in the world. Apparently it is switched off at certain periods of the day and visitors are invited to walk around the mini fountain in the centre to collect coins for good luck - if I had known that I would have stayed longer!
Brief but heavy rain at lunch time
