Larnach Castle

So Larnach is New Zealand's only Castle. Built in the 1870s, it was the project of William Larbach, a successful banker who later shot himself in one of the New Zealand parliament's committee rooms. The castle is now in the hands of the Barker family who have restored it from its dilapidated state to the visitor attraction it has now become; a fine example of Victorian New Zealand.
