Cormorants at River Kelvin

I spotted a pair of cormorants on one of the pillars of a demolished railway bridge  over the River Kelvin today - a strange sight specially as one of the birds was standing with its wings outstretched as if they were drying. Doing a search I discovered that this behaviour is one of the most characteristic features in their behavioural repertoire  when their plumage is wet. It has the ultimate goal of conserving metabolic energy. So there you go!
