Spot the rings

A late afternoon flight to Newcastle took us through a spectacular red sunset. Had I selected a seat of the left-hand side of the aircraft, that would probably have been today's blip. Instead we just had the tantalising glow of it reflected across the plane's cabin.

At Newcastle we were met and whisked south to Darlington, where Audi is hosting the drive of its first electric car, the A3 e-tron. Actually it is a plug-in electric hybrid. We'll be driving it over the moors and up to the Tyne and city centre tomorrow.

Audi is noted for branding its events with lots of little surprise details. A stone bust in one of the reception rooms wore a very discreet necklace addition, with four rings on a red ribbon.
