Old and New

Old fishing boats, still in use but hauled up for winter on a beach by Qinghaungdao, the high rises of the city dotted along the coastline in the background.

This is in a famous holiday area where Chairman Mao once had an apartment, and which now swings in the summer with Chinese and Russian holiday makers. In winter, it is pretty much closed down.

Another busy day on high speed trains, and the inside of factories, it was great to stand on this beach if only for five minutes before we had to head back to the station.
