A day of honeypots

Retirement can be exhausting. Secretary of a Trust, President of a Society, Chair of a Community Interest Company, Botanical Recorder, conservation volunteer - and that is just a taste of what 20 years of retirement have led to for Knottman and wife.
The eMails pour in and the phone rings. It's like being at work again. So you have to go away for short breaks.

Here we are on a two night break in Borrowdale in the Lakes.

On the journey up to the hotel we have visited several honeypots. White Moss Common, Dodd Wood, Watandleth and Ashness Bridge.

We would never go near any of these in July to September. But in late November they are almost like they were when we first saw them in the 1950s.

The photo shows the Lion and the Lamb.

In the afternoon the sun struggled through and it was all magic.
