Medieval seal

This is the seal of William, Lord of Ruthven and Dirlton (sic) attached to a charter dated 19th November 1580. It's part of the Laing Charters collection which I was cataloguing this afternoon.

I was surprised to meet other people (walking dogs) as I cycled along the Water of Leith this evening. Good to see they had torches, too. It was completely dark otherwise.
