This is the time of year to most successfully dig wells, when the water table is at its lowest.
Alpher and the team have set a target to install 100 pumps before Christmas.
They are a bit along the way and have most of them in train, being set out, being dug or being built.
Many pumps are now distant from Mzuzu and that presents its own logistical headaches with transport for cement and the likes.
They are a determined bunch and I am sure they will make it, but they will certainly give it their best shot.
100 pumps could be serving 20,000 of the poorest villagers, but each and every one of then is most important to us.
