Herptile survey
Today was our first Herptile survey on the Duberry Cassava nature trail. These involve a 100m transect off the path searching (on hands and knees) through the forest for any reptiles or amphibians. You have to try and capture them so that you can measure and weigh them - quite a challenge. The picture is a male Anole - very spectacular colouring. We also found several dwarf geckos - which are around 2cm long. The latex gloves are to protect the animals from skin oils etc.
The rain has finally eased off today although our shorebird survey at Lime Kiln Bay the rollers were crashing in... I spent some time working on breath holding in the pool but can't quite seem to break the 2min20 barrier.
