Keeping it simple
Can't help thinking we're over-complicating this festival malarkey sometimes. There are postcards and programmes and Facebook pages and online newsletters and tweets and press releases and that's all on top of organising the actual events down to the last detail. No one EVER phones back or preempts anything and half the shopkeepers expect us to do it all for them.
Our skeleton crew is flat out and at the moment we seem to be losing a volunteer a week. I think the latest one has fallen in love and gone misty eyed on us so she's lost interest in dishing out leaflets - I mean really! And to rub extra salt in the wound the council (who have mainly given us money and dealt with logistics) are trying to make it look like they've organised it all jointly with us. Bloody cheek.
So a cake sale in the playground suddenly seems like a splendid idea, although I bet that wasn't simple to organise either!
I tell you what folks - don't ever under estimate the amount of work that's gone into organising events you attend. I never will again...
And I tell you something else - it's worth it. It will be worth it and I'm excited...
