Cotton

The rest of our trip to South Carolina was spent in Allendale, an extremely poor and rural area. This part of South Carolina mostly grows peaches, cotton, corn, and soybeans. It was forecast to rain heavily on Sunday, so the farmers were working hard all day on Saturday to make sure all the cotton was off the bush before it got soaked and ruined. Once picked, they store it in bales and modules, like the one pictured here.
