Shipwreck on Sully Island, nr Penarth, South Wales
This is the wreck of the coaster "Baratanach" which sank on 27th March 1916 whilst carrying a cargo of gunpowder. All that is left now is the stern post and a few ribs. The boat was originally a wooden pilot cutter built in St. Ives, Cornwall in 1879 and used extensively in the Bristol Channel and Severn estuary. The cutter was then sold into private ownership and used to transport goods around the British coast.
