Wednesday Wisdom

Over the years when my boys have claimed to hate reading I've always trotted out this phrase:
"Literacy is one of the cornerstones of civilisation."

And over the years I've gradually forgotten where it came from. Until last night when I started re-reading this book - A Judgement in Stone by Ruth Rendell, and there it was on the very first page.
