A Short Ride In A Fast Machine
Tony had another heavy nosebleed this morning, despite yesterday's cauterisation. So, as advised by the hospital, I phoned for an ambulance to get him back to the John Radcliffe (we don't have any transport of our own). They arrived very speedily and soon we were on our way up the M40 in thick fog. At times like these the mind has a way of providing distraction by throwing up irrelevant thoughts. I found myself thinking of the piece of music A Short Ride In A Fast Machine by John Adams, possibly because they've been playing it a lot recently on Radio 3 - it's one of the ones they selected for their Ten Pieces programme to get children excited about classical music.
Safely arrived at A&E, then up to ENT again for them to think about next steps - watch this space.
