Household throwouts
This is the tiny space at The Red Cross Shop where we sort donated clothing. Those items of clothing that are clean and in good repair are steamed before being displayed on the shop floor. The public is always very generous in their support and it is surprising how often garments are gifted that have never been worn and still carry the retailers ticket.
Any considered not fit for sale are sold on to a rag merchant so the charity still benefits.
Whenever and wherever there is an emergency the Red Cross is always very early on the scene and the highest proportion of the UK revenue is spent at home.
I continue to be happy to volunteer my assistance six years down the line.
