Hoole War Memorial

I was visiting my Dentist in Hoole, Chester today so decided to check out the local War Memorial where I know there is a dedication to my Great Uncle Joe....

Private Joseph Benyon 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment #18458.

He left for Egypt on HMS Troopship Transylvania 19 April 1917, and
was lost when that ship was torpedoed off the coast of Savona, Italy 4 May 1917. He is buried in the Savona Town Cemetery.
