the great escape
My contribution to this weeks "Derelict Thursday" hosted by SarumStroller.
It is a rather unsafe part of the Grade ll Haalem Mill in Wirksworth, another fantastic early industrial building that may never find another use.
The mill was built between 1777 and 1780, before the expiration of Richard Arkwright's patent on his cotton spinning machinery, and as such is one of the earliest examples of a factory designed to house a steam engine for the use in the context of cotton spinning.
