Timberrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
A very exciting day watching our two tree surgeons cutting down the horse chestnut and the sycamore which, due to them being too close to the cottage, had to be severally dealt with. The horse chestnut has been taken down to a manageable height as it was swaying in the wind gently and could have hit the roof if it had come this way in a bad storm. The roots were only coming in one direction due to the land beyond being cut away. The insurance company indicated they could not insure us with them remaining!
The branches used by the squirrels to enter the garden at height have been left in place :-)
They worked incredibly hard so were kept well fed and watered! Very polite young men too, who are the kind you would, at every opportunity, want to recommend. They cost one third of what other companies, who couldn't come until January, were going to charge us, so all round an excellent result :-))
The sycamore is the double trunked tree on the left.
