#tahdon2013 voting day

I'm about to get political. Sorry in advance if I offend someone's beliefs.

Today our parliament voted on legalising gay marriage which was started as citizen’s initiative that was signed by 160 000 people (myself included) when you only need 50 000 signatures get the initiative to parliament. So if the next parliament (we have election next spring) don't vote against it if another group of citizens make counter initiative all Finnish people that have turned 18 should be able to marry each other. I have to say that I did not expect this to go through even when the majority of citizens want the same equal rights, but amazingly it did. I admit I did cry a bit. Just thinking about this still brings tears to my eyes.

I was making my cupcakes as the voting result came through.
My cupcakes are pink and orange very appropriately.

What a great day. Whatever you may think love is love and people are people and should be treated equal.

I teach Metta in every mindfulness class. Metta is the word in the Pali language that means "Loving-Kindness". Metta is one of the more important of the teachings of the Buddha. It's my favorite practice of all.

"May people everywhere make love and compassion grow in their heart. "
