A Real Birmingham Family

This statue by Gillian Wearing is an impressive but modest work, outside the new Library of Birmingham. The Library cost £188.8 million, which has delivered a spectacular building with some terrific internal spaces but I can't see that it is over three times better than the Liverpool or Manchester equivalents, delivered for about £50 million each, albeit used to convert existing fine buildings.

I also liked the Ikon Gallery, especially this work by Imran Qureshi.
