Can't You See I've been here before....

When I was younger, my mate and I hung about the streets a lot.

Not in a bad way, just that we liked to watch people, and places, and the street was a good place to do it.

At one time, there were two cafe's in the town where we could sit til 9 pm, 10 pm in the summer. That was always entertaining, we could watch everyone coming and going. No windows though.

When we had got thrown out of there, we sat at the Cross, and watched the adults moving between pubs. We were never that inclined at 12 to try and get into them.

One of our other places was the window ledge of the shop downstairs from my mate house. It was deep sunk, about 2 foot back and we could snuggle quite tightly in back from the street, and listen in on people's conversations as they walked past, or stood outside the phone box a little way away.

In one of the roads had off-road parking, and a metal railing along side it, separating the cars from the pavement. Sometimes we would sit there, and engage passers by in conversation. Typically drunk people moving between bars.

One night as we sat, we looked up at the moon and wondered ... it looked a bit odd, but we couldn't quite put out finger on what was wrong; we contemplated all sorts of things. And then someone came out of the pub and we asked....

"Lunar Eclipse".

We were overawed. We had no idea what a lunar eclipse was; but since we saw it that night, I have loved gazing up at the moon - especially at 3 in the afternoon.

It was soooo clear.

Wish I hadn't broken my telescope.
