Shore bird survey

A day full of bird surveys at Foxes Bay and (pictured) Lime Kiln Bay. The migratory Ospreys made several appearances mostly with fish hanging from their talons. We also saw some Red Billed Tropicbirds and a large flock of Magnificent Frigate Birds spiralling up into the clouds. We were also rewarded with our first glimpse of a pair of Yellow Warblers and some Common Ground Doves (very small!) at Foxes Bay. As shown in the picture you have a recorded and one or more observers with the spotting scope. But you also need to learn the calls - harder...

We had a lovely snorkel at Foxes Bay where the visibility has much improved. As well as a swimming Moray we found the largest Scorpionfish so far. We walked back from Foxes after picking up Hazel, one of the science staff, who took a wrong turn on the hiking path and got a bit lost in the Acacia - her legs were covered in scratches. The path follows the old road up to the vacation homes but is heavily overgrown.

Another of the science staff, Duncan, is doing his Divemaster course and was being treated to 2 very badly behaved instructors simulating inexperienced divers - he was not happy. The tiling continues by the local builders replacing the bathroom - they are moving *quite* slowly. The Caribbean calm was shattered this afternoon by a combination of the diving compressor, the builders cutting tiles and testing the boat engine!
