The start of it!

All hands to the pump tonight for the tree lighting ceremony down in the village. The Salvation Army band came out from Kirkwall and played carols while we served hot mince pies and mulled wine and rattled a bucket for donations!

Santa came and switched on the tree lights and distributed sweets to the children and then there was a mini pantomime. The evening ended with cakes, juice and teas being served to a packed hall, everyone high as a kite! I didn't stay till the bitter end, but by all accounts it was a grand night out!
