The Stars Look Familiar
A calm, misty start to the day in Inverness. Not that it would last. 3M and I tend to stay in the same chain of hotel when we travel because we like their beds. Plus the fact that if I ask nicely the chef will do fried bread for me, even though it's not on the menu (horrible hash browns are, though). But not today. Apparently other people have asked for it and got it but when they stay in another branch and ask and are turned down they squawk “but Inverness do it”. This has allegedly reached the ears of the management who have sent word out that fried bread is not to be done anymore. Nooooooooooooooooooo!! Does this mean we'll have to buy a camper van so I can have this tasty delicacy on our travels? Oh, the shame.
Besides that, a simple day. Did a bit of shopping, drove up to Ullapool and waited for the ferry.
Before we went away the car was ever so clean and gleaming but the pic above taken at Ullapool shows the results of driving through Hull …... twice. Dirty, dirty, dirty. The car will need a thorough seeing to when we get back, as the formerly shiny alloy above will show.
And get back we did. Uneventful ferry trip, no deer with suicidal tendencies on the moor meant we arrived home ready for a decent cup of coffee. What really made my evening was that the sky was so clear, the moon had dropped behind the higher part locally and the street lights switched off at 23:00, allowing me to enjoy a fantastic view of the night sky with innumerable stars to gaze at. And 4 shooting stars. Probably space junk burning up.
