The Edge of the Wold

Lean on me

On the shore of Rydal Water, Gus leans against Wifie. The fell above Nab Cottage reflects in the lake. It's nearly two years since they first met on Arnside Knott, and it was his leaning technique that day that first won her heart.

Today we did a circular walk around the lake, coming back high above Nab Cottage and stopping in the tea room at Rydal Mount. Surely all circular walks should have a tearoom on them somewhere?

There was a time when Wifie took a lot of persuading to be blipped. Maybe my photography has got a bit better, or perhaps it's just Gus the blip muse, but these days she is much more persuadable.

There's a photograph of Nab Cottage across the lake here.

ps It was a bit of a shock to see just how much of the invasive pygmyweed (Crassula helmsii) was growing in the water at the edge. This plant is a menace which has now invaded many of the larger Lake District waterbodies, there is no way of controlling it.
