Do you hear what I hear?
What I heard was the loud rat-a-tat-tat sound of the pileated woodpecker hammering on a hollow tree. I was lucky to be standing right next to the tree he was in and even luckier to spotted him before he flew off (It could be a female. I forget how to tell them apart). I managed to capture four reasonably sharp shots and, after some touchups in Lightroom, decided this was the best. This was a much better capture than I had hoped for when I went to the park for a late afternoon walk. I also bagged a squirrel and two pictures of a lady cardinal. You can see them here.
Here is yesterday's backblip of winter trees that I posted just a couple of hours ago. And one more "thank you" for all the comments and good wishes for my 55th anniversary blip of Mr. Cardinal on Thursday. Blippers are a great bunch!
