The National Thai Observatory
Great school field trip to the Doi Inthanon National Park. We went to a royal project farm, one set up to provide a sustainable alternative to opium growing then to the Observatory. The general public aren't usually allowed in to see the telescopes so I was really excited to see it. It's the largest telescope in South Asia and is largely involved in exoplanet research. We met a couple of PhD students who were working on research for Sheffield Uni and Warwick (woo!). After dinner we then headed up near the summit to stargaze, the sky looked so much better not in the pollution of the city and the pupils and I learnt a huge amount.
