Boom... arang...

Hold the boomerang pointing with one end pointing forward and other end with the flat side in the palm of your hand and slightly off vertical.

Face the wind and turn 90 degrees to the right.

Throw upwards and forwards imparting as much spin as possible.

Lets just say, it didn't exactly pop back into my hand and the sight of the thing bearing down on you from about 25 feet up is a bit disconcerting but we did get a couple to land within 5 metres of us although none in the imagined wide circle I was expecting.

Having two helpers available to retrieve the boomerang did however come in very handy.
