Sunday Seasons: Advent

Is Advent a season? It is for blip purposes.

I have been looking for years for a traditional Advent calendar. There are any number sponsored by Disney or Cadburys or Mars; behind the doors are pictures of their own promotional material and you can't see the picture properly anyway because of the plastic tray holding the obligatory piece of chocolate. No sign, anywhere, of a proper, traditional calendar.

But, this year, I found one. In W H Smith, of all places. Why did it never occur to me to look in Smiths before?

Those of you who have been dropping in on my blips over the last few months will know that my "children" are young men of 24 and 21. So why do I want an Advent calendar? I'm not ashamed to admit that it's Just For Me. You're never too old for an Advent calendar.
