Scroggling the Holly

Best viewed large.

After our 6 mile Railway Children Walk
See here on my blipfolio
We made it back up the steep cobbles of Haworth vlllage street to watch the Scroggling of the Holly. ( means Gathering of the Holly)
This marks the begining of Christmas celebrations in Haworth.
The procession with Morris men, chimney sweeps, Brass band, and children in Victorian dress.
Culminating in the crowning of the Holly Queen, and the key which opens the gates, to let the Spirit of Christmas and Santa in.
The weather was beautiful.
Wonderful atmosphere.
What a great start to Christmas!
