Sleigh, Post Box, Castle and........Giraffes!
While out and about this morning I found these two giraffe calves guarding Santa's sleigh, Santa's post box and the entrance to the children's library which is the castle, yes giraffe calves not reindeer. The giraffe calves were designed and painted by two Rangiora primary schools, the left one is painted by Rangiora Borough school and the right one by New Life school. They are part of the Christchurch Stands Tall Sculpture Trail.
In February next year all the giraffe calf sculptures will be returned to their school for permanent display, while the adult giraffe sculptures will be auctioned for charity with the money going to Child Cancer Foundation, Life Education Trust, Gap Filler and Life in Vacant Spaces.
It's been a cold, showery day for the first day of summer, a little sun peeking out between some thunderous clouds. After I'd been out and about this morning, I gardened between the heavy raindrops and then this afternoon found the Christmas tree and have started to decorate it, my helpers can't help this year so I'll just ease into it and take my time.
So feeling a little Christmassy after seeing these giraffes, Santa's sleigh and the all important Santa's post box.
Happy Monday everyone :)
