Helleborus thibetanus
One of the rarer Helleborus in cultivation, at least in my region of the US, H. thibetanus hails from China. It is the most eastern memeber of a genus that is native from Western Europe and NW Africa into China. Most species are centered in Southern Europe with the Balkans holding the Lion's share
I planted this almost a decade ago in my parent's garden in Littleton. It is always the earliest of the Helleborus, often peaking by late Feb. Our record cold winter has held it back. By the way Denver, Colroado set a new record of 90 + days without reaching 60 degrees F. Today was the first day we went above 60 degrees F since last November. It was most welcome.
