Do I spy bananas?

This ornamental pink banana plant is only a few months old and about 2 feet high, but I do believe it's about to produce some (inedible) fruit. I shall watch closely to see if the upright yellow fellows about the pod are indeed bananas in the making, or just stamens or some such. You may get the message that I'm a gardening ignoramus.

A slow start for me this morning, having had a lift to and from last night's party at the club and therefore been free to drink more beers than my usual modest quota (or none at all if I'm driving). Then, after a slow breakfast, we wandered onto the course for nine holes before lunch. There has been heavy rain all week, so everything was beautifully green.

Back at home, gave Kayla a car walk (i.e., she gallops and I drive along behind), as my legs felt they had done enough. Intentions to write more Christmas cards fell by the wayside, by the time I had combed away some of Kayla's winter coat and done my hand-washing (no chlorine in the water up here to suck the colour out of clothes). Then back down to Rio to prepare for a visiting fireman at some unknown hour tomorrow morning.
