First year nearly over.

This small sapling, no more than fifteen inches tall has now emerged from the ground cover of a local woodland, which must have nearly smothered it during the summer.

Presumably germinated from seed scattered by an adjacent sycamore tree last autumn, it's now beginning the process of shedding its leaves and waiting out the winter.

With any luck it should outgrow the annual weeds and nettles which abound in the area, the ivy however, is another thing and without some help from you know who would surely do for it.
