Exterminate!

Chained to the computer again today, with lots of deadlines to meet. Had to make my apologies for what would have been a fun party in town tonight, because of work needing to be finished. But I was then persuaded to make the trip into London anyway, to appear on BBC2 Newsnight.

It was a discussion about the official fuel consumption figures, based on the EU test cycle, that are supposed to tell us what mpg to expect from our cars. Except that as everyone knows, they are grossly optimistic, and don't relate closely enough to the kind of economy you can expect in real world driving. It was fun being interviewed by Evan Davis, and engaging in gently argumentative banter with a spokesman from the motor industry trade body, the SMMT.

On the way out of Broadcasting House, I encountered this Dalek. Unsurprisingly, given the sign he wore, I resisted the urge to touch him. Otherwise I might not still be around to write this blip!
