Skull splitting fungi.
A trip to the local recycling facility offered an unlikely opportunity for another fungal blip.
The buildings in the background belong to the BrewDog brewery and the shiny stainless steel tanks contain billions upon billions of yeast cells. Yeasts are, of course single celled fungi that obtain their energy by breaking down carbohydrates. In the process they produce alcohol, to the delight of the brewer and his customers!
The RotoKrush, the warlike device in the foreground, has nothing to do with brewing, instead it is used to compact the recycled rubbish in the skips. It did remind me, however, of another fine Scottish beer, the formidable SkullSplitter, brewed up North in the Orkney Islands.
