Poker-buteo
For reasons that only became apparent after the game we each had a little subbuteo man as well as our chips for the poker. Andy explained aferwards that the idea was that if you fold you pull your little man behind your chips and then the dealer knows who is in the game without having to interrupt conversation, wait for players to return from the loo etc. He did explain this before the game but we were all too busy flicking our little men around and reminiscing of bygone youth to pay any attention.
A very good game, first time at Andy's as far as I am aware and he made a lot of effort (the green baize was a subbuteo playing pitch gaffer taped to the dining room table, with the pitch side up of course). I eventually came second to the guvnor to retain my stake money, and amusingly despite JJ going down to 1 chip around 8:30, not being biothered about playing and desperately trying to lose his chips he managed to stay in till 11.
During the day I mostly cleaned, including the windows outside taking advantage of the clement weather. Our cat sits on the kitchen windowsill when he wants to be in, and if you leave him there too long he paws up the window so it gets very dirty very quickly.
Whisky was bought to go with the lemons and honey for hot toddy to soothe my throat and it worked a treat, though a bit strange to turn up to a game of poker with 2 large bottle of Leffe, an IPA, a weisbierre and some lemons, honey and whisky.
Music:
