Life from city to village

Petanque Player

Chantlers December Challenge - 10

This statue is the Petanque Player, by Roger Burnett. There is also a statue of a family watching. The player is seated before a Petanque court - on which people can play. The idea is that you throw a ball called a jack up to 10 metres, and then throw boules to see who can get the closest.

One of the joys of living in a city, is the statues dotted around, with seeming incongruity. I stumbled across this one for the first time today, on my way back from a course this morning.
