Superb fairy-wren

These gorgeous little birds are fairly common in the hills, but have been wiped out by cats in the suburbs. They never cease to delight me - this is the male in breeding colours - and he doesn't half prance about showing off.

Although I'm thinking he may be a juvenile, because he hasn't got much of a tail.

You'd be pleased to know that the orange cake from yesterday was very well received last night - and I made some little bite-sized smoked salmon quiches as a savoury.
