Simple Gifts
We have a well-established tradition in our family that Christmas presents are OK providing that they don't cost more than £5. I found these tree decorations, which double as money boxes, in the shop at Salisbury Cathedral in November. They seemed just what I needed, especially as I found two with the names of my nephews on, plus ones with blank spaces for my brother and sister-in-law.
I'm wrapping them up today to take with me to Derby on Friday, so I can leave them with Mum for my brother to collect next week. And none of the recipients view my Blipfoto or Facebook pages, so there is no danger of giving away any surprises!
PS After publishing this entry, I realised I'd missed an opportunity to link it to the Shaker hymn, Simple Gifts. I think this version by Judy Collins is appropriately uncomplicated, though I do enjoy the way Aaron Copeland weaves the tune into Appalachian Spring.
