Out to lunch with my mother and brother today. We went to Soho House and I had a burger; I always have burger if it's on the menu. Still no alcohol because of this kidney thing, which is dragging on long enough for me to start drawing up the order of service for my funeral.
Mother and brother were late, as usual, which gave my the opportunity to buy a pair of pointy toe black shoes in Jigsaw and amble round the bookshops in Charing Cross Road, where I bought a book of poems by Louis MacNiece for £4.
My mother bought me this box of marshmallows from the posh marshmallow shop Marshmallows are one of those things that are usually better in idea than execution but these are amazing - dense with intense flavours. I'm rationing myself, don't fancy diabetes yet
