Another transformation at the pond

Dear Diary,

Late in the day the sun came out briefly and I hurried down to the pond to see what all the melting and re-freezing had done to the surface. At this time of day the sun illuminates the easterly shore and casts lovely reflections into, or I should say onto, the water which is now in various phases of freezing.

I would never have imagined that watching ice grow and recede could be so fascinating! It changes every day. Right now as I write this we have had another couple of inches of gritty snow; that's what I call a snow/ice mixture. The branches are ice covered. I only hope there are no power outages!
