A new day, a new adventure.
A knock at the door today proved to be a guy trying to sell me guttering.
We badly need to replace our 65 year old system and I had intended to do it myself during the summer, but because of my sensible distrust of ladders I never got around to it.
When the rains arrived, I regretted that. A few more waterfalls had appeared and one section sagged away from its support, providing an interesting water feature outside the front window.
My initial suspicion that he was a cowboy was dispelled when he said that he didn't want to be paid until the job was finished to our satisfaction. His quote was cheap, but not so cheap as to be unbelievable (after a bit of bartering it was about 250 euro less than the best price I got in the summer).
I still had no intentions of parting with that kind of money before Christmas but then the Redhead took control and made her decision.
They started work immediately, and were more or less finished before the light faded. They will be back tomorrow to tidy up.
It would have taken me a week, and I would have still had to pay through the nose for the materials.
