My Local

Have never been a pub-going person - for a start, they were always thick with smoke in my youth, and hated going to bed with my hair stinking of cigarettes. But now, in my 50s, here I am with a "local", and I truly love the place. It's cozy and warm and welcoming; love the name - the King's Arms; the shape, embracing the community; and love the landlord, Rob, who works so hard to make it, he says, feel like his living room.

Here, one end of it, looking festive, with an almost full moon in the sky above - taken as I walked home from the dentist, with a grateful heart for a restored tooth, and time to walk on a sunny winter's day.
